MCC Sale
April 13-14
19 Jr MBYers met at church on Friday the 13th (of April) in pouring rain to leave for the MCC Sale in Hutchinson. We left the church at 5 pm and after a few miles the rain turned to snow which continued all the way to the Fairgrounds. It took us about 1.5 hours to get there, and there was about 5 inches of snow on the ground when we arrived. We all had soaking wet feet by the time we walked through the slush-filled parking lot into Cottonwood Court to work at the "Feeding the Multitudes" dinner.

We worked for 3 hours there doing jobs like:
~ filling water, tea and coffee jugs
~ taking drinks to the tabls

~ cleaning tables and carry the dirty trays to the "cleaners"
~ cleaning and drying the trays

~ ushering people to the empty tables

~ emptying the trash bins and taking the trash out (in the snow) to the dumpster

After everyone was finished eating and gone we cleaned all the tables and swept the floor and ...

... headed to Bogey's for dinner!
where you get great hamburgers and cheese fries and a choice of 100 flavors of milk shakes!

After we left Bogey's we went to Wal-Mart to shop for pj's, pillows, blankets, socks and toothbrushes for Hannah & Stephanie.
... no they didn't forget their stuff, the weather was so bad that their parents couldn't make the drive to Hutch to pick them so ...they got to spend the night!
(prayers were answered!)

There was a serious snow ball fight in the Wal-mart parking lot during the shopping time and then we finally headed to Hutch Mennonite church. We unloaded our stuff, got into dry clothes/ or pj's and then played some of the best/scariest sardines ever! It's the perfect church for sardines with lots of dark remote areas. There was constant fear in the air and lots of screaming! Sometimes finding hiders was the scarest part of all!
The sardines finally had to end and we went upstairs to the youth room and sat on their circle of couches so Bill could do the devotion. After that we sat around and talked and told stories. It was a great end to a very exciting day!!!
Saturday in Hutch!
Saturday morning started early for us. The roads had been cleared overnight so parents could now drive from Wichita. Scott had become sick in the night so his dad came at about 6 AM and picked him up. Hannah's dad came around 7 AM and took Hannah and Stephanie to their events in Wichita. The rest of us got up at about 7:45 AM

We got everyone out of bed and cleaned the rooms, and then packed back into the vans. We went around the roundabout (only once :( because it was snowy) and then went back to Cottonwood Court - this time to eat a pancake breakfast.

Some of us ate with friends we met from Buhler MB church.

We were careful not to let Cheyenne hold the camera, so we have a lot more pictures than we did last year!

At 9:30 AM we went to our assigned work stations. Josh, Emery, Spencer and Ben were working at "Plants & Things"

Noah, Zach and Cory worked at "Kansas Crafts"

Brooke, Becky, Nathan and Bill worked at 10,000 Villages

Shoppers at 10,000 Villages

Becky, Cheyenne, Alyssa and Donna worked at the quilt auction

We left the fairgrounds at 12:30 PM and went to Taco Bell for lunch. The most popular items were nachos, soft tacos, cinnamon crunchies and diet water!
We then loaded into the vans for the last time and headed home.
It was an awesome weekend!!!
